AFRUCA - Safeguarding Children is a national charity promoting the safeguarding and well-being of children in Black and Minority Ethnic communities. AFRUCA has its Head Office in London and a Centre for Children and Families in Manchester.
This position will enable us to address demand for specialist cultural and country specific input into child protection assessments involving children and families from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds. The post holder will conduct cultural assessments and provide intensive one-to-one support for families in crisis to enable them strengthen their parenting capacities and improve protection and safety for children in the family setting.
We want to recruit a strong candidate with excellent report writing skills, able to cope with medium work-flow and work on their own initiative. You must be a team-player, adaptable to working in a small, non-statutory setting. You must be able to work in a non-oppressive and non-discriminatory way with migrant/asylum seeking families.
This position will be suitable for a graduate social worker with at least two years post-qualification experience.
The post holder must undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check to confirm suitability working in a regulated activity with children and their families. Benefits include 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays, 6% pension contributions and regular professional supervision. Registration with Social Work England is compulsory.
