AFRUCA - Safeguarding Children is a national charity promoting the well-being and protection of children in Black and Minority Ethnic communities. AFRUCA has its Head Office in London and a Centre for Children and Families in Manchester.

This position will enable us to address demand for specialist cultural and country specific input into child protection assessments involving children and families from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds. The post holder will conduct cultural assessments and provide intensive one-to-one support for families in crisis to enable them strengthen their parenting capacities and improve protection and safety for children in the family setting.

This role is a unique opportunity for a qualified social worker with two to three years’ experience to develop their skills working for a dynamic children’s charity. It will enable them build their specialism and expertise working with Black and Minority Ethnic families in the Child Protection system.

We want to recruit a strong candidate with excellent report writing skills, able to cope with medium work-flow and work on their own initiative. You must be a team-player, adaptable to working in a small, non-statutory setting and across different locations. You must be able to work in a non-oppressive, non-judgmental and non-discriminatory way with migrant/asylum seeking families.

The post holder must undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check to confirm suitability working in a regulated activity with children and their families.
