Child Protection Community Education Programme

What AFRUCA taught us has formed the building blocks of our family life teachings
— Pastor Femi Titilayo, Christ Apostolic Church, Middlesborough

AFRUCA works in partnership with a range of community and faith based organisations to improve knowledge of child safeguarding and how to keep children safe from abuse and harm. We offer two main courses:

  • This 3 hour session aims to improve understanding of what is child abuse, signs and impact, UK laws on child protection, why children and abused and AFRUCA's 20 ways to be a great parent without smacking. This is delivered by our staff and/or volunteer Children's Champions at the partner's place of worship free of charge, although we may ask you to meet our travel costs, if there is a bit of a distance from our two offices. Donations are also welcome.

  • This specialist training course (full day or half day) for leaders, workers and volunteers in faith organisations aims to support workers to gain a stronger understanding of safeguarding and how to improve policies and practices to ensure children attending are safe and safeguarded. It explores the basics of child protection, explores cultural and religious practices that can be harmful to children attending, conducts a safeguarding risk assessment and develops a code of conduct for workers/leaders. This training is delivered by our trained staff. This training is delivered by our expert staff. We are interested in joint-working and commissioning by local authority safeguarding partnerships looking to help improve safeguarding in their local faith groups. We are available to travel anywhere across the UK.

Certificates of participation will be provided for participants.
