  • Independent Children and Family Psychotherapists

    We are now recruiting for this position

    Job title: Independent Psychotherapists, AFRUCA Healing and Reconciliation Service

    Location: AFRUCA Head Office or AFRUCA Manchester Centre, working remotely or face to face with clients

    Description: We are seeking independent, qualified psychotherapists with strong interest in the cultural aspects of therapeutic practice. They will employ an integrative person centred approach (parents and children) and play or arts therapy (children) to work with service users. This will involve provision of short-term, culturally appropriate therapeutic support programme for Black children in foster care who are being reunified with their birth families.

    Our service will provide therapy for children and their birth parents to help them readjust following time away in foster care, build their emotional well-being, rebuild trust, emotional bond and attachment with their birth parents.

    The work will include individual work with children, parents and parents/child. The psychotherapist will conduct initial assessment, make recommendations and provide short-term intervention for the child and his/her parents referred into AFRUCA’s Family Healing and Reconciliation Service.

    Become a volunteer Children’s Champion by helping to educate your community about different child protection issues. We encourage members of Black and ethnic communities to work with AFRUCA to protect children and prevent abuse and harm.
