Cross Cultural and Integration Training Course for New International Social Workers from Zimbabwe and South Africa

We were specially commissioned by Manchester City Council to deliver a two day cross cultural and integration training course for its new international social workers from Zimbabwe and South Africa. The two day training was delivered by our social work team and was aimed at providing support to the social workers to enable them adapt to working in the UK. This is due to the various challenges that can arise for newly arrived workers while trying to integrate into the wider UK society.

Our staff/trainers (Deborah, Jamila and Lauretta) used their own personal and professional experiences as Black African/Caribbean social workers in the UK to inform the training. Participants were provided with AFRUCA's bespoke training manuals which cover various cultural safeguarding issues.

We received very positive feedback from participants about how useful they found the session and from Manchester City Council about the high quality of the training content and delivery.
