AFRUCA Training Events Case Study:

Exclusive Study Groups on Culture and Safeguarding Children

AFRUCA has launched a series of exclusive Study Groups on the intersection of Culture, Religion and Safeguarding Children in Black and Ethnic communities for professionals working with children and young people. So far, we have held two Study Group sessions in January and April 2025. Both sessions were delivered by our CEO Debbie Ariyo OBE, one of the UK’s top experts on Culture and Safeguarding Children.

Our Study Groups are designed to be close and intimate sessions, affording a few number of participants the opportunity to deep dive into key safeguarding children issues and their intersection with race and culture. They are also spaces for professionals to explore ongoing issues in a safe and secured environment. The ultimate aim is to provide a strong opportunity to deepen participants’ knowledge and understanding of cultural sensitivity in safeguarding to help improve engagement and support for the children in their care.

We are now organising the Nexty Study Group event in London on 26 June 2025.
